Culinary
Bohati's culinary journey commenced with humble beginnings - washing dishes and cooking at a bustling seafood restaurant in Victoria BC in 1998. A decade later, he decided to move to Vancouver to hone and develop his skills further. Bohati's culinary perspective took a transformative turn when he joined the kitchen of Elixir in the Opus Hotel.
In 2010, Bohati ventured to Calgary to cook at the pioneering restaurant Rush. Three years later, he became the Executive Chef of Market on 17th Avenue. After a brief stint as Chef De Cuisine at Restaurant Park in Montreal during the summer, he returned to Calgary to search for his next culinary challenge. He found it at the renowned fine dining establishment, Teatro, where he revamped their cuisine and team in 2017. Fast forward to 2019, and Bohati was appointed the Executive Chef at the Hawthorn Dining Room, situated in the historic Fairmont Palliser. Starting in 2023, Dave was the Executive Chef for Salt & Brick before welcoming his baby boy, Frank in 2024.
Now, Bohati is eager to share his wealth of knowledge and experience to help you elevate your brand.
Art
Growing up in the picturesque surroundings of Vancouver Island, Dave was constantly surrounded by beauty and creativity. As an only child, he learned to be independent early on and found solace in pursuing his passions for music and art. At the age of 15, Dave discovered a new form of expression through graffiti, which allowed him to join a crew and create a brotherhood while honing his artistic skills. He spent countless hours perfecting his lettering and colour schemes, running through train yards and painting large-scale aerosol murals. Painting his first graffiti piece on his 16th birthday was a milestone moment that cemented his love for this art form.
After 12 years of dedicating himself fully to street art, Dave knew it was time to shift his focus and pursue his other passion: culinary arts. However, his artistic drive never waned, and he always sought out ways to express himself creatively.
For Dave, art is not just a medium of expression but a way of life. He firmly believes that art is all around us, waiting to be discovered and appreciated. As he puts it, "There is literally art everywhere you look; you just need to pay attention and feel it."
